Finnish film director and video artist Mika Taanila is the receipient of 2015 Ars Fennica Award. Now in its 22nd edition, the prize is awarded every year by the Ars Fennica Art Foundation to a Finnish artist and is worth 40,000euros.
Taanila was selected by curator and writer Charles Esche, among a shortlist including Hans Rosenström, Laura Könönen, Outi Pieski and Pink Twins. In addition to the monetary prize, Taanila will have an exhibition at Hämeenlinna Art Museum (30 November – 6 March 2016), accompanied by an e-book showcasing his works which will be available to download for free on the Foundation’s website.
