Roman Ondak has been announced as the winner of the 2018 Lovis Corinth Prize, awarded biennially to an artist who shares a biographical or thematic connection to Eastern Europe. He will receive a solo exhibition at the Kunstforum Ostdeutsche Galerie in Regensburg in May 2018.
Born in Žilina, Slovakia, Ondak graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava in 1994. He has received numerous solo exhibitions in recent years, at institutions including the South London Gallery, London, the Times Museum, Guangzhou, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid. His exhibition, History Repeats Itself, is on view at the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art, Aalborg, through 17 September.
