Taiwan’s National Culture and Arts Foundation has revoked the National Award for Arts granted to Sakuliu Pavavaljung in 2018 and ordered that he return the NTD 1 million prize.

The move follows a Supreme Court ruling on 1 April to uphold a January 2025 decision by the Pingtung District Court that found the artist guilty of rape and convicted him to four years and six months in prison.
