37 international artists have given works to help provide a fund for the London-based arts commissioning agency Artangel. Proceeds from the fund, titled Artists for Artangel, will go towards helping the agency to continue organising exhibitions and commissioning artists to create new work. The donated works will be on show at an exhibition in Cork Street, London (opening 7 June) and will be available through an online auction which runs 8 – 27 June. The auction will include both existing artworks and new commissions by artists such as Roger Hiorns, Douglas Gordon and Cristina Iglesias. The silent auction will culminate with Sotheby’s Alex Branczik conducting a live auction of some works at Banqueting House in Whitehall on 28 June during a celebratory evening. The target for the Artists for Artangel fund is £2.5m.
