Manifesta 12, Europe’s ‘nomadic biennial’ which this year takes place in Palermo, has announced the first 10 participants to be included in its programme. The 2018 biennial, titled The Planetary Garden. Cultivating Coexistence, takes as its starting point, the concepts of diversity and crosspollination as well as the site of Palermo’s botanical gardens (founded in 1789) which was used as a laboratory for cultivating diverse plants. The biennial is commissioning 30 new works, public installations, performances, and urban interventions. This year’s edition will take place across more than 15 locations including the Garlibaldi Theater, Palermo Botanical Gardens, Piazza Magione and social housing district ZEN (Zona Espansione Nord).
