Basel’s Fondation Beyeler and UBS launch Artist Talks, a new, internationally-oriented programme of the Fondation Beyeler, co-hosted by UBS.
Tuesday 30 May, 6:30 PM
For more details see www.fondationbeyeler.ch
To launch the programme, and to mark the opening of his exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler, the Anglo-German artist Tino Sehgal will discuss his work with Sam Keller, Director, and Theodora Vischer, Senior Curator of the Fondation Beyeler, on 30 May, at 6.30pm. Between the end of May and the end of October 2017, Sehgal is presenting a series of six successive works at the Fondation Beyeler.
Tino Sehgal was born in London in 1976, currently lives and works in Berlin. His works, which he describes as “constructed situations“, consist of a set of briefing instructions prepared by him that are adopted by interpreters for as long as the work is visible. Sehgal’s works are therefore essentially immaterial: no object, painting, sculpture or documentation exists. All that they leave behind is the visitor’s individual experience of them.
Ahead of the talk, read Martin Herbert’s feature on Tino Seghal and Robert Barry’s review of the artist’s Palais de Toyko show
