The Museum of Contemporary Art Yinchuan has announced Marco Scotini as the curator of the Second Yinchuan Biennale, to take place from June to September 2018. Following 2016’s inaugural edition curated by Bose Krishnamachari (the museum opened in 2015), this edition will focus on ecological issues and the cultural crossroads between East and West. According to Yinchuan MOCA, the exhibition will involve 15,000 sqm of museum space and other venues.
Scotini currently serves as artistic director of the recently opened FM Center for Contemporary Art in Milan, while also working as head of the visual arts and curatorial studies department at Milan’s NABA art and design academy, and as curator of PAV – Parco d’Arte Vivente, Turin. Scotini curated the Albanian Pavilion at the 2015 Venice Biennale and three editions of the Prague Biennale, in 2003, 2005, and 2007. His project, Disobedience Archive, traveled internationally for ten years, and, working as artistic director of Gianni Colombo Archive from 2004 to 2016, Scotini organised several retrospective of the artist’s work in major institutions. Scotini is also the founder of the bookzine No Order: Art in a Post-Fordist Society, published by Archive Books in Berlin, and writes regularly for international magazines, including Moscow Art Magazine, Flash Art, Domus, Kaleidoscope, Arte e Critica, and Millepiani.
