Philippe Pirotte, director of the Städelschule Academy of Fine Arts and Portikus in Frankfurt, has announced Christina Lehnert as the new curator of Portikus, the university’s art space. Previously curator of Kunstverein Braunschweig, Lehnert will succeed to Fabian Schöneich, who’s at the end of his tenure.
Lehnert studied art history and philosophy at Humboldt University in Berlin. Prior to her role at Kunstverein Braunschweig, she worked as curator at Gebert Foundation for Culture in Switzerland (2015–16), where she worked with artists Hanne Lippard, Gabriel Kuri, Jan Vorisek, Matthis Altmann, Aude Pariset, Lynne Hershman Lesson and Alicia Frankovich, among others. Lehnert has also held positions at Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein and Kunsthalle Bielefeld.
Founded in 1987 as the university gallery of the Städelschule, Portikus is dedicated to exhibit, publish and discuss young as well as established artists and their work.
