ArtReview Asia is pleased to present the third edition of ArtReview Asia Xiàn Chǎng, a curated programme of solo artist projects for West Bund Art & Design in Shanghai. Installed throughout the West Bund Art Center for the duration of the fair (8–11 November), this year’s edition includes 14 works by Chinese and international artists, ranging from painting and sculpture to virtual reality. Over half of the projects are new commissions specially created for Xiàn Chǎng by artists including Tatsuo Miyajima, Cerith Wyn Evans, Zhang Enli and Shezad Dawood.
Operating outside of the conventional art fair booth, each work acts as an intervention in the space, reflecting the curatorial concept of Xiàn Chǎng, which translates as ‘the scene’ (of a crime or accident, etc); (on) the spot; (at) the site. West Bund Art & Design will select a winning project in ArtReview Asia Xiàn Chǎng, which will be announced during the fair.
This year, ArtReview Asia Xiàn Chǎng welcomes the following artists:
Francis Alÿs (Galerie Peter Kilchmann, Zurich)
Choi Jeong Hwa (P21, Seoul)
Shezad Dawood (Timothy Taylor, London)
Dickon Drury (Koppe Astner, Glasgow)
