Artist Olafur Eliasson and geologist Minik Rosing have collaborated in the harvesting of 80 tonnes of free-floating Greenland ice and are transporting it to Paris, where it will be installed, in the form of a clock on Place de la République, to melt away in order to raise consciousness of climate issues.
The project is part of wider initiative Artists 4 Paris Climate 2015, for which international artists, also including Ernesto Neto, Taryn Simon, Edward Burtynsky and Yin Xiuzhen, are creating projects to be installed in public spaces in the greater Paris area, to coincide with the Paris Climate Change Confrerence. Works form the project will also be sold at a charity auction.
